free motion Quilt Illustration




Effectively you will be drawing with thread… it sounds daunting, but it’s easy because you will stitch through an illustration on velum which just pulls away from the quilt and voila, you have a wonderful quilted image.

You can bring your own illustration or use my pattern.

I will have a choice of images....









Requirements  depend on which class you do  but this is a guide.


1 X 15” square Warm and natural cotton batting. (or similar)

2 X 15” squares Good quality light colored fabric. (do not wash) You need to be able to see through it, to trace the words “The Photographers”

1 reel 50 weight Superior Masterpiece black thread No 161 or similar

1 reel 50 weight Superior Masterpiece red thread No 117

1 reel 50 weight Superior Masterpiece light color thread to match the background of your quilt.

1 pkt 70/10 Schmetz microtex needles.

A pair of good quality tweezers.

.5 black pigment ink pen…look for Zig.

A seam ripper,

Rotary cutter and mat. 12” X 6 ½” ruler,

fabric scissors

A pair of good quality tweezers.

20 small safety pins. 4 ordinary pins.

1 reel masking tape...
